He earned his B.S. degree from Jilin University in 2000 and his joint Ph. D. degree from Jilin University, China and FUNDP, Belgium(co-education) in 2007. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the FUNDP and “Chargé de Recherches” at the F.N.R.S. of Belgium, he is currently working as senior fellow at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, associate of Harvard University and professor at State Key Laboratory of ATMSP at WHUT. His research is aimed at hierarchical materials. He created the knowledge system of design and synthesis of hierarchical materials and their applications in multiple-functional catalysis. During most recent 5 years, he has made a series of contributions on the oriented design and precise control of the hierarchical materials for bio- inspiring catalysis, including Hierarchical catalysis, Directional photo/electro catalysis and Artificial cell catalysis.
