Timon Rabczuk received his Dr.-Ing. (similar to PhD) from the University of Karlsruhe (nowadays KIT), Germany. After his Dr.-Ing, he spent more than 3.5 years as postdoctoral fellow in the Computational Mechanics group at Northwestern University with Prof. Ted Belytschko. After another app. 1 year postdoc at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, Timon worked as senior lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Department of University of Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. Since 2009, he is chaired professor at the Institute of Structural Mechanics at Bauhaus University Weimar, Germany.
Timon develops models and computational methods for challenging problems in engineering and materials science involving multiple fields, multiple scales, adaptivity, large deformations, plasticity and damage up to material and structural failure. His research contributes to virtual material design.
