I graduated in Philosophy (1982) and Mathematics (1993) at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the Johns Hopkins University Baltimore (1992). Since 2001, I am chair for the Philosophy of Science in the Department of Philosophy Communications and Performing Arts at the Università degli Studi Roma Tre. I am interested in the relationship between physics and metaphysics and in the relationship between scientific methodology and representative democracy.
I have published various volumes and papers in international journals. From 2014 until 2017, I have been president of the Italian Society of Logic, History and Philosophy of Science, and from 2011 to 2017 I have been coeditor with Carl Hoefer of the European Journal for Philosophy of Science. I a member of the Academia Europae, the John Bell Institute and the Academie Internationale des Philosophie des Sciences.
