Prof. Mauro Dorato is Professor of Philosophy of Science at the University of Rome Tre, where he has held the chair in Philosophy of Science since 2001. He earned his PhD in Philosophy from Johns Hopkins University (1992), after graduating in Philosophy (1982) and Mathematics (1993) from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
His research focuses on the intersection between physics and metaphysics, with special emphasis on the nature of time, causality, determinism, and the interpretation of quantum mechanics. He is also engaged in exploring the philosophical foundations of scientific methodology and its implications for representative democracy. He has authored numerous volumes and scholarly articles in leading international journals.
Prof. Dorato served as President of the Italian Society for Logic, History and Philosophy of Science (2014–2017), and as Co-editor of the European Journal for Philosophy of Science (2011–2017). He is a member of several prestigious academic bodies, including the Academia Europaea, the Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences, and the John Bell Institute.
Prof. Mauro Dorato has served as Officer of the Social Sciences and Humanities Division since December 2024, for the mandate December 2024 – November 2027 (current and first term, in accordance with the EurASc Bylaws).
