Tong Yang is a chair professor of mathematics at City University of Hong Kong. He is a fellow of the European Academy of Sciences. The awards and honors that he has received include the State Natural Science Award (2nd class) of China in 2012, the Croucher Senior Research Fellowship in 2011, the Changjiang Chair Professorship by the Ministry of Education of China in 2005. His research is concerned with partial differential equations and kinetic theories where he introduced new functionals, decompositions and transformations with several co-authors. He served as co-editor-in-chief of Analysis and Applications (2013-2017) and is one of the founding co-editors-in-chief of Kinetic and Related Models in 2008. He has been the President of Hong Kong Mathematical Society since 2016.
