François Golse is currently a professor of mathematics at École polytechnique (Paris).
His research interests are partial differential equations and mathematical physics, especially kinetic models and their connections to fluid mechanics. His more recent works include the application of ideas coming from optimal transport to quantum dynamics, for instance to the case of large particle systems in the mean-field and semiclassical regimes. Besides the 1993
Peccot Lectures at Collège de France and the 2010 Harold Grad Lecture at the 27 th International Symposium on Rarefied Gas Dynamics, his main addresses include a plenary lecture at the 2004 European Congress of Mathematics in Stockholm (Hydrodynamic limits), and an invited lecture at the 2006 International Congress of Mathematicians in Madrid (The periodic Lorentz gas in the Boltzmann-Grad limit).
