Chiara Mariotti is an experimental high energy physicist, senior scientist at INFN, Turin, Italy. She did her PhD in the NMC experiment at CERN. Later, she worked on the DELPHI experiment at the CERN LEP accelerator, where first contributed to the high-precision measurement of parameters of the Standard Model and then began the adventure of searching for the Higgs boson. In DELPHI, she has held various positions of responsibility, from coordinator of analysis groups, to the coordination of the physics of all the experiment. Since 2000 she has been working on the CMS experiment at LHC. She has been responsible of various groups in charge of the search of the Higgs boson, and, then, of the measurements of the particle characteristics. In 2009 she founded and coordinated for several years the LHC Higgs Cross Section working group, which was fundamental and instrumental for the discovery and subsequent measurements of the characteristics of the Higgs boson. The European Physical Society (EPS) awarded her the Emmy Noether Distinction for Women in Physics in 2018. She is a fellow of the European Academy of Science and Adjunct professor at Boston University.
