Dr. Bruno Briseghella is a Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy. He served as Dean of the College of Civil Engineering at Fuzhou University in China and holds the title of Distinguished Professor under the 1000 Foreign Experts Program. He is the Founding Director of the National Platform for the "Joint International Research Center of Bridge Technology Innovation and Risk Mitigation," supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), and the Funding Director of the "Sustainable and Innovative Engineering Research Center." Under his leadership, the College was selected for the "Network of International Centers for Education" supported by MOST and the Ministry of Education (MOE).

Dr. Briseghella earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Padova and his Ph.D. from the University of Trento, both in Italy. His primary research focuses on the sustainable and innovative design of infrastructure, earthquake engineering, integral abutment bridges, durability, monitoring and retrofit of bridges, and steel and steel-concrete structures from both theoretical and experimental perspectives. He has published over 300 scientific papers in national and international journals and conferences and has served as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) on numerous research projects funded by prestigious institutions.

In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Briseghella received several accolades, including the "1000 Foreign Talent Plan Professor" in 2012, the "Fujian Province Friendship Award" and the "China National Friendship Award" in 2013, the "2017 International Educator in China Award" in 2018, the "Fujian Province International Science and Technology Cooperation Award" in 2023, and the "2023 International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People's Republic of China" in 2024. He has been honored as an honorary citizen of Fuzhou since 2014 and of Fujian Province since 2019.
